‘Pneumatic Forms’

2023

Pneumatic Forms is an immersive installation that delves into the realms of inflatable architecture, showcasing an exploration of Gaussian geometry and the principles of developable surfaces. Crafted from hand-sewn ripstop fabric, these pneumatic forms possess a unique semi-porous quality, enabling them to capture and release air cyclically throughout the day via timed air pumps. This dynamic inflation and deflation not only animate the space but also underscore the installation's temporal and spatial dimensions.

Rooted in a proto-architectural ethos, Pneumatic Forms blurs disciplinary boundaries, oscillating between the domains of architecture, wearable art, and objecthood. Each form beckons interaction, inviting viewers to engage physically and conceptually with its evolving geometric configurations and spatial narratives. By merging the ephemeral qualities of inflated structures with the structural precision of Gaussian geometries, the installation prompts contemplation on the interplay between materiality, form, and experiential space.
